| A simple but powerful file
encryption/decryption tool that runs from the context menu with options
to compress the encrypted file, to securely wipe a file and to send the
destination file to the email client. RightCrypt will quickly
encrypt/decrypt any file format. It is small and efficient and easily
installed. It is ideal for mailing sensitive material or saving data
encrypted to a removable disk. Installation Extract RightCrypt.exe to a folder of your choice. Run RightCrypt.exe and select Yes to install. This will register the file extensions '.fe2' and 'feZ' as a 'RightCrypt Encrypted File' and set the item "Run RightCrypt" in the context menu. Using RightCrypt After selecting 'Run RightCrypt' in the context menu, a dialog will open where you can select the cipher to use and insert a key phrase. There are four common secure ciphers with a key size of up to 256bits (32 characters) - remember, the longer the phrase the better the security. You can select to securely delete the source file after encryption, email the destination file or if the destination file is a a decrypted file, to run it. You can also compress an encrypted file. An encrypted destination file will have '.fe2' added to the filename or '.feZ' if compressed. Unless you choose to save it elsewhere, the destination file will default to the same folder as the source file. You can select and save destinations in the drop down list making it easier for repeated actions. Selecting a destination in the drop down list will change the destination folder shown above the drop down box. Select and use the DEL key to delete entries from the list. To return the destination to to same folder as the source file, click on 'Original'. File deletion uses the seven pass method, ie overwriting the content with $00, $ff, $00, $ff, $00, $ff, random(256), each time flushing buffers, before the file is actually deleted from the disk. Double clicking on an encrypted file in Explorer, Outlook etc will also open the dialog. RightCrypt will recognise a compressed file and action accordingly. If you just want to delete the selected file then click on "Delete selected file " Uninstalling RightCrypt. Run RightCrypt.exe and select No to uninstall from the menu and to delete registry entries before you then delete RightCrypt.exe, RightCrypt.dat and RightCrypt.ini.
